UT’s National Moot Court team of Amy Mohan, Valeria Gomez and Carlos Yunsan were victorious in the Region VII competition over the weekend and will compete – for the second year in a row –- in New York City in the national finals. The team, coached by Professors Joseph Cook and John Sobieski, won every round, beating Loyola, Memphis, Faulkner, Mississippi College as well as Loyola a second time in the finals. The team also was awarded the Best Brief in the competition.
Mohan also was a member of last year’s team, which finished second in the national competition, and she was runner-up as Best Oralist.
“It was a team effort from the very beginning, starting with writing our brief,” Mohan said of this year’s competition. ”We have all grown tremendously throughout this process. Professors Cook and Sobieski have guided us every step of the way, and I think we are most excited about the fact that we made them proud through our dedication, hard work and determination. Also, we can’t thank the UT facuty enough for their support of the National Moot Court team and the endless hours they dedicate each year in helping us practice. ”
