The Moot Court Board congratulates all of those who participated in the 2013 Advocates’ Prize competition, and in particular Anna Swift and LaToyia Trotter and Matt McLeod and Jeremy Miller who advanced to and argued in the final round. Swift and Trotter received the Best Brief Award, and William Bateman and Ellie Boles received the Second Best Brief Award.
The Swift-Trotter and McLeod-Miller teams advanced from a field of 16 teams to the final round of competition. On Thursday, Oct. 24, they argued before Judge Martha Craig Daughtrey, a senior judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; Judge Roger Gregory, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit; and Judge James Graves, a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The judges selected Swift and Trotter as the winning team and named Swift as the Best Advocate in the final round. The judges commented favorably about each of the students’ preparation and presentation and also complimented the board on the competition.
